About us
Each year, approximately 6000 children are directly assisted through the society’s
Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) approach, which emphasizes the use of locally
available resources, active involvement of parents and family members and rehabilitation
with the home environment.
We believe every child with a disability is a child first, unique in their abilities and their
potential, and equal in their rights to survival, education, health, protection, recreation,&
rehabilitation. Over 250,000 individual disabled children have been assisted in terms of
meeting their medical rehabilitation, educational placement or vocational training needs.
These individual level interventions have completely changed the lives of these children
many of whom have grown up to become productive and independent adults. They have
also become role models or positive examples for the communities they come from and
for individual families and their disabled children.
The staff at USDC are motivated by the World Declaration of the Survival, Protection and
Development of Children, which states, "We do this not only for the present generation,
but for all generations to come. There is no task nobler than giving every child a better
future."
Our Vision: A society in which children with disabilities have equal rights and equitable
opportunities for growth and development.
